I usually save new halas for the 2nd because after doing the starter island there i can usually transmute level 10 items, and frostfang seems to have more treasure chest drops than any of the other zones. There is also a tier 9 raid zone and player housing. To start off with your free room, or if you are renting a free inn room and forgot where it was, it will be in your starting city.

Lost amid the lengthy patch notes for everquest ii's recent halas reborn update is a curious decision by the developers at sony online entertainment. Eq is very playable with a decent population on a few servers.

Each city is only for the specific race that inhabits it, but there are two exceptions. Leveling up in everquest 2 is very quick these days compared to before, but if you are a new player i recommend.
